About Sovelia

SOVELIA Facts

SOVELIA is an easy-to-use and easy-to-expand PLM solution, supporting companies to achieve sustainable and lean business processes throughout the entire product lifecycle, from concept phase to disposal and recycle of a product.

SOVELIA helps to remove waste in order to achieve business benefits; e.g. increased productivity and quality, reduced cost, shorter lead times, and overall increased customer satisfaction.

The lean PLM solution

By moving focus towards the customers´ delivery process and product definition, we identify important gaps and manage to bridge those. We make the investment safe-to-own, with a minimum of risk for the customer by having system upgrades included in the fixed price delivery, free viewer licenses to ensure information availability, and a simplified license model – everything included. We prepackage the solution using SOVELIA PLM Templates and make a fixed price delivery where as much as 80% is preconfigured, making the implementation easy. In this way SOVELIA can be operational within only 10 weeks. This approach drills down to our three principles which we live by:

  • Customer in Focus
  • Safe Investment
  • Easy Implementation

We call our approach lean PLM, as we help our Customers become lean in their operations. We do this by tightly integrate our lean PLM solution SOVELIA in customers’ core business processes and with existing system landscape, e.g. with existing ERP system for increased accuracy in forecasting and planning.

The SOVELIA History

The SOVELIA history goes back to 1993, that’s when the 1st generation of todays SOVELIA was first introduced. DAMS (Drawing Archive Management System) as it was called, was founded to support drawing management for CADAM CAD system. Since then much has happened. The 2nd generation, EDMS (Engineering Document Management System), was expanded to support CATIA. This was in 1995. A few years later, in late nineties, the system was expanded to a CAD independent Document Management System (DMS). The 3rd generation supported all types of documents, still providing the user interface also from inside CATIA. In beginning of 2000 purely web based AURIC release 1.0 replaced the Windows dependent system. The 4th generation now enabled the use of any operating system on client side and different database applications. During the following years, AURIC went from solely a Document Management system to include Item Management and eventually fully utilizing BOM Management and the PLM area.

At this time AURIC was owned by Ravalik Oy. Their business was built on a lean approach; taking small steps to achieve big changes within and outside the organization, avoiding as much waste as possible, and focusing on adding value to the customers. In 2008 Addnode bought Ravalik and the AURIC -nowadays SOVELIA product and integrated the business with Technia. July 2011 the SOVELIA business moved between Addnode AB subsidiaries Technia and CAD-Q. The new setup was done in order to clarify the solution offering of Technia and significantly complement CAD-Q’s offering. The SOVELIA PLM solution will have a central role in CAD-Q solution offering and strengthen CAD-Q’s position as a leading provider in the Nordics.
